This is where the house keeps its notes. Not news, and not offers — there are other places for those. What you will find here is slower: the reasoning behind a staircase that stayed, the morning a menu is written, the rituals we would recommend to a friend, and the city as the people who work here know it. Most of it is written by those same people, in the evenings, when the house is quiet. Some of it is useful before you arrive. The rest is simply what a house of seventeen rooms has to say after three hundred years on the water. We add to it only when there is something worth telling.
